Redirects
Manage 301, 302, and 410 redirects, triage 404s, import from CSV, and auto-create rules when page slugs change. Integrates with the SEO Preview Bar Links panel.
Requires SEO NEO Pro. Modules: SeoNeoRedirects (runtime engine) and ProcessSeoNeoRedirects (admin UI).
Redirects handles URL changes, legacy path migration, and gone pages. Rules live in dedicated database tables for fast matching at request time, separate from the page tree.
Admin UI: Setup → Redirects
Redirect rules
Each rule has a source path, optional destination, and type:
- 301 — permanent redirect
- 302 — temporary redirect
- 410 Gone — page permanently removed (no destination)
Rules can be exact paths or wildcard patterns. Use {slug} for one URL segment, or {*} for a greedy match.
Example: source /blog/{slug}/ → destination /articles/{slug}/
Admin tabs
| Tab | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Rules | Create, edit, search, and test redirects. Export and import CSV. |
| 404 Candidates | Real missing URLs visitors hit. Promote a path to a new rule in one click. |
| Bot Probes | Automated scans (/wp-login.php, /.env, and similar). Kept separate so triage stays focused on genuine broken links. |
Auto-redirect on page rename
When enabled in module settings, renaming a page slug in ProcessWire creates a 301 rule from the old URL to the new one automatically. On multilingual sites, one rule is created per language path that changed.
If ProcessWire's optional Page Path History module is also installed, both can record the old path. SEO NEO Redirects stays self-contained so rules remain in place even if Page Path History is later removed.
CSV import and export
Export all rules as CSV for backup or editing offline. Import uses this format:
source,destination,type,active,expires_at,notes
/old-page/,/new-page/,301,1,,
/blog/{slug}/,/articles/{slug}/,301,1,,
/deleted/, ,410,1,,
Import skips rows whose source already exists.
Settings
Configure under Modules → Configure → SeoNeo Redirects Engine:
- Log unmatched 404s (on by default)
- 404 log retention and max rows
- Auto-create 301 on page rename
SEO Preview Bar integration
When the SEO Preview Bar is installed, the Links panel always checks internal link status and shows badges (200, redirect, 404). That works without Redirects.
When Redirects is also installed, any plain 404 internal link gets a Create redirect button. It opens Setup → Redirects add-rule with the broken path pre-filled in the source field.
Install
- Install free SEO NEO (1.1.8 or later).
- Copy or symlink
SeoNeoRedirectsintosite/modules/. - Modules > Refresh → install SeoNeo Redirects. This also installs the admin process module.
- Open Setup → Redirects to manage rules.
Both SeoNeo Redirects Engine and SeoNeo Redirects must remain installed. The engine handles matching; the process module provides the manager UI.
