Sitemaps
Offline XML sitemap builder for large ProcessWire sites. Uses SEO NEO canonical URLs and noindex rules as the single source of truth for inclusion.
Requires SEO NEO Pro. Modules: SeoNeoSitemaps (builder) and ProcessSeoNeoSitemaps (admin UI).
Sitemaps generates XML sitemap files offline for large ProcessWire sites. Instead of rebuilding on every request, it writes a sitemap index plus chunked URL files you serve as static files.
Admin UI: Setup → Sitemaps
Why a separate Pro module
Free SEO NEO outputs meta tags on each page. Sitemaps is operational tooling: batched crawls, file storage, rebuild scheduling, and health status for site managers. It reads the same canonical and noindex values SEO NEO already resolves, so you are not maintaining a second inclusion ruleset.
What gets included
A URL is written to the sitemap when all of the following are true:
- The page is published and publicly viewable
- SEO NEO does not resolve
noindexfor that URL - The URL is the resolved canonical (pagination URLs collapse when the canonical points to page 1)
- The template is allowed (or not on the deny-list)
There is no separate per-page "include in sitemap" checkbox in v1. Inclusion follows SEO NEO's canonical and robots resolution.
Multilingual
One sitemap system lists every language variant as its own URL entry. Hreflang annotations come from the same resolver SEO NEO uses in <head>.
Scale and output
- Automatic sitemap index when URL counts exceed safe single-file limits
- Chunked files written below protocol size limits
- Default output: site-root
sitemap.xmlplus chunk files - Configurable output directory and filename so an existing sitemap is not overwritten during migration
Priority and changefreq values are omitted. Search engines largely ignore them, and they add noise for editors.
